Travel in a foreign nation needs preparation in every area from health issues to local laws and customs. Make sure to plan for the following areas so that your international travel is hassle free.

If you need to take much medication, separate it amongst your luggage, in the event of bags going missing. If you require needles and syringes, get a letter from your doctor explaining and ask your airline how to be legal according to airport and air travel security regulations.

It is best to book your accommodation beforehand, particularly if arrival at your destination is late at night.

Protect yourself against loss of luggage and theft by carrying few bags. When you are carrying many bags, you are more vulnerable to bag snatchers and thieves. Place your credit cards and passports under your garments in a money belt.

To protect yourself from loss and theft you should organize a number of ways to access your money, including credit cards, travelers cheques and ATM cards. Don’t ever let your credit card out of your sight. Make photocopies of all your documents such as your passport, tickets, visas and credit and ATM cards. Keep a copy with you in a separate place to the original and leave another copy with someone at home.

Make yourself familiar with local laws and customs and show sensitivity to them. In certain cultures people may be offended by clothing that is revealing or considered inappropriate. Breast feeding publicly could also be regarded as offensive. Read through a guide book or browse the internet to research the local customs. Also be aware that the local laws and punishment, including those that seem harsh, still apply to you. Age, culture or health concerns are not accepted as excuses. Some countries have capital punishment for drug related crimes.

The best way to travel is to be prepared and know all about the nation that you are visiting. That way you will travel wisely and enjoy your trip more. You will also be a better visitor for the locals who will appreciate you more.

PostHeaderIcon Travel Safety Tips

Safety while traveling is essential. Be streetwise during your travels and ensure that you protect yourself from opportunists and thieves. While researching your destination, read through guide books and hotel review websites. Pay attention to suggestions from others who have already been to that destination.

– Choose a hotel in a safe location with well lit parking areas close to the city center. Book a room that is not on the ground floor or easily accessible in any way. Always park close to the entrance and in well lit spaces. –If you have room keys that have room numbers on them, be careful not to reveal the room number to people around you.

Lock your unattended luggage in the hotel room and store your keys, wallet, prepaid credit card and any valuables in the hotel room safe–When you are in your hotel room use the locks on the windows and doors. Don’t open doors to anyone who you don’t know and use the peephole in the door to see who is on the other side.–

When leaving the hotel room, check that the door is locked. It is a good idea to leave the TV on as it suggests that someone is there. Hang the Do Not Disturb tag on the door to make it seem that someone is in the room. If you are alone and feel suspicious that someone is following you in the elevator, push the button to the floor where the restaurant is. -

The best way to remain safe anywhere is to be alert and vigilant at all times. Stay in areas that are populated and do not walk in isolated places. Remain in groups as much as possible. Keep your mobile phones and jewelry out of sight. Walk briskly and look confident at all times. Safety is kept when we avoid any risky situations.-
