Traveling can be a daunting task, traveling with children can be even more daunting. Many times families have to use airlines to get to their vacation destination. But don’t fret, because there are several ways to help make your air travel experience with infants, toddlers and young children a fun and easy experience.
Booking flights for adult travelers is easy, but many people forget one thing when traveling with children. Children are on a different schedule than adults. Try to find a departure time to fit around your children schedule. Traveling at night could be easier since your kids will sleep through the flight. If traveling with toddlers, pick a time that’s closest to when they take a nap. I’s hard to predict things with kids, but this could help make the flight go more smoothly.
While waiting to board the flight, let your kid be active. Walk around the airport with him and visit the shops. Doing this can make him tired before you even board your flight. If he’s nervous, let him look out the window at the planes and explain what will happen during the flight.
Bring a toy. Having his favorite toy could help make him a little less nervous. Just make sure the toy doesn’t make too much noise. This can upset those around you on the airplane.
Many don’t know this, but some airlines allow car seats on the plane. Yes, it’s heavy to carry, but your child is used to having to sit in the car seat. This could make napping for him a lot easier. While most airlines don’t charge you a ticket if your child is under two and sits on your lap, if the flight is long, it might make it easier and more comfortable on you and your child if he has his own seat.
Traveling with children can be a bit of a hassle, but it doesn’t have to be if you’re fully prepared. Doing these things could really help make your air travel experience with your kids so much better.
